For this year, Toyota has decided to offer some unusual changes, so 2018 Lexus RX Hybrid comes a little bit different than last year. The original luxury crossover is one of the brand’s best-selling models. Its hybrid version is doing pretty good as well.

The current model is the fourth generation, which is active since 2015. So, we could see some changes in near future. Still, 2018 RX Hybrid comes pretty much unchanged. It comes with the same design, both in visual and mechanical aspect. A familiar hybrid system remains the same as well.

So, what’s new for this occasion? Interestingly, Toyota has decided the change the price. The new model costs less than the last-year model. Though, the list of standard equipment is shorter. So, things are basically pretty much same – less money, less standard features.

As we already mentioned, 2018 Lexus RX Hybrid comes without changes when it comes to base design characteristics. There is a familiar design which is present since 2015. There is a familiar styling, which is completely the same as on the standard gasoline model. The same happens inside. Still, this model offers more standard features. More precisely, it was offering. The company has decided to make this crossover cheaper. To achieve this, they actually excluded some of the standard equipment. So, things like a sunroof, roof rails, heated and ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory settings, navigation system and blind-spot monitoring are not available in base model anymore. Some of them could be found in the new Premium package, while some are standalone options.


On the inside, things are pretty much the same. The complete cabin styling remains the same, although there are few new color schemes in the offer.

The 2018 Lexus RX Hybrid comes with one completely new package, called Premium. Speaking of trim levels, this crossover continues in a single trim option. Base models come with standard equipment like 18-inch wheels, LED exterior lighting (headlights, foglights, taillights and running lights), automatic high beams, automatic wipers, heated mirrors, a power liftgate.

On the inside, you get dual-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, 10-way power front seats, power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Speaking of technology, things like 8-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, smartphone integration etc. List of standard safety systems includes a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and automatic braking, lane departure warning and intervention, and keyless ignition and entry. A number of optional packages now goes up to five. Those are F Sport, Cold Area, Premium, Luxury, and Towing.

In this aspect, the 2018 Lexus RX Hybrid continues without changes. There is a familiar hybrid system, used in past few years. A potent 3.5-liter V6 engine comes in a combination with three electric motors, making a combined output of 308 horsepower. It comes in a pair with CVT. This amount of power is enough to provide some very nice performances. This crossover needs around 7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. It is a class-average result, just a few tenths quicker compared to the base gasoline model.

Besides this hybrid version, the RX also comes with a conventional 3.5-liter V6, which delivers around 295 horses. This engine comes in a pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. On some specific markets, there’s also a smaller 2.0-liter turbo inline-four in the offer.

As we already mentioned, the 2018 Lexus RX Hybrid features a lower starting price compared to the last year model. It now starts at 54.700 dollars. Still, a list of standard features is shorter now.
