Products from this carmaker are praised all over the world. Pretty much all experts put Mazda at the top of the car industry. Although this manufacturer isn’t among best-selling companies, it is full of amazing models. For example, there are models like Mazda 3, Mazda 6, or CX-5, which are among bests in class. However, there is one interesting thing about this manufacturer that bugs many car lovers. Neither one of these models doesn’t feature smartphone integration – things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. More precisely, they didn’t feature, until now.
According to the latest reports, all models from Mazda will feature Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity for the next year. Besides this important change, we are about to see few other modifications on few models. Also, all models should receive the newest version of the company’s infotainment system.
All Mazda models will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
At the ongoing car show in Los Angeles, the company’s CEO for North America Masahiro Moro said that these advanced features are on its way. The company is finalizing the whole process and all 2018-year models will get this feature. Although Mazda is pretty innovative in many aspects of the car industry, this is something that took too much time. Pretty much all car makers offer this feature in most of their models for a pretty long time. However, Moro said that “It’s not necessarily a mistake. Mazda has business in over 30 countries worldwide and our approach was to be open source and how to avoid disruption based on location”. Moro also said that this is probably the only consumer expectation in terms of hi-tech features, so there this will be the only update for the next year.
The new Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity will not be the only important 2018 update
According to Mr. Masahiro Moro, the new smartphone integration will not be the only update that will come to the whole Mazda range. It looks like all models from the lineup will get a newer version of the company’s MZD Connect infotainment system. However, these upgrades will be minor. Also, it is important to mention that the new Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are coming only in those models with an MZD Connect touchscreen interface. Besides these updates that will include the whole range, there are also some changes to come for specific models.
Mazda 6 and CX-5 get a new engine with cylinder deactivation
These two models will come with the company’s newest version of the famous 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The new version will feature cylinder deactivation. For those curious, it is about fuel economy, of course. The new engine comes with the ability to shut off cylinders on the end, which should provide some important fuel savings. Also, the new CX-5 will get nice updates in terms standard features. We will see a more generous offer of standard equipment for each trim. However, these upgrades will be followed with some very minor increases in price. Don’t be afraid, those are in terms of few hundreds of dollars. Also, there is a chance to see this crossover with a diesel engine in the offer for the U.S. market.
A small CX-3 will also come with important updates
The subcompact 2018 Mazda CX-3 also comes with important updates. For its third year of production, it will add few new standard features for each trim level. However, the more important thing is that company made some revisions on the suspension that will improve handling, and also added some new materials for better noise reduction. Also, a low-speed automatic emergency braking is standard across the CX-3 lineup
