It originally came in 1990 and we have seen four generations of it so far. The current model is quite old. It came in 2009 and the company doesn’t have in plans a redesign for some time. Moreover, they did an update, which had its premiere last week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
There are plenty of novelties with the 2018 LandCruiser Prado. It’s not a usual update, but more of a mid-cycle refresh, which indicates that the current generation will be in production for at least two or three years. There is a new styling, but also some nice changes inside. Finally, there are some changes under the hood.

This refresh brings much more than you’ve probably expected. Even visual changes are quite significant. Despite new styling, base characteristics remained the same. The 2018 Toyota LandCruiser Prado continues to ride on the same platform and features most of the same mechanical parts. It comes with the pretty much same characteristics as North American Lexus GX.
On the other hand, styling is pretty unique. There is a new appearance that includes various changes. The front end of the SUV is completely new and includes new things such as grille, headlights, bumper etc. The rear end also comes with some nice changes. Lower trims also include features like adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure alert, but not the lane-assist system. Higher trims also include safety systems like blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alert.
