2019 Mazda 6 Wagon: What To Expect

2

The famous wagon is getting updates from its sedan version, but that’s not all. Latest reports suggest that the 2019 Mazda 6 Wagon will finally come to the U.S. market. In a form of the sedan, this mid-size car is present since 2002. Still, a wagon body style has been exclusively offered in Europe. North American drivers would usually prefer crossovers over the wagon and that is the main reason why there aren’t so many cars of this type in North America. Still, times are changing, so the 2019 Mazda 6 Wagon should finally get there.

The Japanese manufacturer has prepared an update for this version and it will feature all those novelties that came last year in the sedan version. Compared to the European version, we expect an addition of a turbocharged engine, which provides a significant amount of both power and torque.

2019 Mazda 6 Wagon redesign

Just like we said, the company has updated the current generation of this sedan last year. Changes to the wagon version are coming this year. For this occasion, we are seeing a similar amount of changes. Mazda continues to improve its beautiful design language. In addition to its sleek lines, there are new front fascia, grille and headlights that look more integrated now, and much more. Of course, a majority of the changes is at the front end.

On the other side, rear end should also include few novelties. For example, a new taillights design, some revisions on the tailgate, rear bumper and similar sort of things. Finally, we are expecting to see new wheels design, few additional color options etc. On the other side, mechanical aspect of the car will probably remain unchanged.

All models from Mazda feature amazing interior design, but this one in particular. Characterized by elegant lines and excellent-quality materials, this model leaves an impression of a real luxury car. The list of standard equipment, as well as interior space, is also impressive. For this update, we will see few updates as well. Expect the same novelties that we have seen in the new sedan version. The dashboard will come with some revisions, while new high-quality leather should become an integral part of higher trim levels. Speaking of trim levels, a potential arrival to North America could bring few additional novelties as well, especially in terms of standard equipment, if not a completely new trim level too.

2019 Mazda 6 Wagon engines

In Europe, 2019 Mazda 6 Wagon will continue in the same way. There are Mazda’s famous SkyActive units in the offer. Two of them are gasoline-powered.

The base unit has a displacement of 2.0 liters and a max output of 155 horsepower.

Optional gasoline unit is a famous 2.5-liter engine which delivers 185 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, there is a 2.2-liter diesel unit, which delivers around 175 horses and 310 pound-feet of torque.

All engines could be paired with either manual or automatic transmission.

On the other side, a sedan version in North America also comes with a turbocharged 2.5-liter unit, which is good for about 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Expect this unit under the hood of new wagon version as well.

2019 Mazda 6 Wagon release date and price

The new 2019 Mazda 6 Wagon should come by the end of the year. In North America, it shouldn’t feature much different price compared to the sedan, which means around 23.000 dollars for the base model. There aren’t many wagons on the North American market, so it seems useless to speak about competition.

  1. FINALLY!!!! So, did somebody in marketing final figure out that some of us ex Mazda 6 wagon owners have bought VWs or Subaru wagons? I will be trading in the next 9 months and I am tired of seeing 6 wagons for other markets. It can’t be that big of an expense to import the wagon. Who ever made the decision not to bring the 6 wagon to the U.S. market needs to be fired. F___!

  2. Ditto: Why can’t we get the Mazda5 Minivan in the USA? I’m not going off road! I don’t want an SUV!
