It is hard to expect some bigger changes only two years after the redesign, so this amazing crossover should continue in the pretty much same way as 2019 Mazda CX-5. The excellent crossover is in production for about five years and it is already considered as one of the best models in class.
The original model was in production until this year, while the second generation came in November last year. With a new design and plenty of improvement, the second generation is even better. There are many benefits from this model.
First of all, here is Mazda’s famous SKYACTIV technology at its best. Also, this is probably the most attractive compact crossover that you can find on the market. Finally, there is an upscale interior that offers plenty of space, premium materials and a whole bunch of standard and optional equipment. The 2019 CX-5 will continue without bigger changes.
2019 Mazda CX-5 redesign
The company recently did a redesign of this excellent crossover and it now comes even better. The second generation comes with the new version of the company’s SKYACTIVE platform. It brings many benefits, such as weight reduction, excellent drive quality etc. The new model offers an absolutely astonishing performance with the new, sports car-like suspension and handling. Also, there is a completely new styling, which makes new crossover probably the most attractive in the class. Simply, this model offers a perfect balance between style and practicality. Besides new stylish appearance, it is also amazingly excellent for the everyday ride, with its spacious cabin, excellent fuel economy and company’s excellent reputation when it comes to durability.
The same thing happens inside, where 2019 Mazda CX-5 should continue in the same way, featuring excellent-quality materials and plenty of equipment. However, we could see some novelties in terms of new standard features.
2019 Mazda CX-5 features
When it comes to equipment, this crossover has plenty to offer. In the base variant, it comes with standard features like 17-inch wheels, 7-inch touchscreen, rearview camera, four-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, USB etc. In higher trims, you get things like keyless ignition and entry, heated front seats with lumbar adjustment and simulated leather upholstery. There are also dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, two additional speakers and two more USB ports.
Finally, top models offer 19-inch wheels, automatic turn-swiveling headlights, a moonroof, a power liftgate, automatic wipers, leather upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, auto-dimming mirrors, a premium Bose audio system, a navigation system and satellite radio.
When it comes to safety, there are advanced systems like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and mitigation, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams etc. Some of these optional features will definitely become standard in 2019 Mazda CX-5.
2019 Mazda CX-5 engines
The 2019 Mazda CX-5 will continue with the amazing lineup of SKYACTIVE engines. There is a choice of three units.
The base model comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. It has a max output of 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque.
If you are for some additional power, there is a 2.5-liter unit. It delivers 184 horses and 185 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a 2.2-liter diesel engine. This unit delivers 173 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
Despite the fact that Japanese manufacturer didn’t follow that downsizing trend, these engines still feature better fuel economy than most of those “smaller” engines. When it comes to the transmission, all engines come with either 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
2019 Mazda CX-5 release date and price
The 2019 Mazda CX-5 will probably come in late 2018. Since there won’t be bigger changes, we also don’t expect changes in price. So, base models should go around 26.000 dollars. Competition in this segment is tough. However, this crossover is one of the best in class, along with Honda CR-V.
There are also models like Hyundai Tucson, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Equinox, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Rogue and many others.
