The new generation of the executive car will appear soon. The redesign of 2020 Lexus GS 350 is huge enough to launch the next series of the vehicle. The fourth generation is already eight years old, and the only major facelift happened in 2015. Now, it is time for a full redesign to refresh the luxury model. Now, it will be similar to the latest RX SUV, which is a flagship model of Toyota’s premium brand.
Changes on the design will offer the new look. However, rumors say the 2020 Lexus GS 350 will keep the spindle grille. On the other hand, the biggest change could happen under the hood. A hybrid unit is on the way. The RX is inspiring this move. Now, with the new drivetrain, the executive car will offer more options. Still, the most interesting is a huge 5.0-liter engine with the massive output as a part of the F Sport package.
2020 Lexus GS 350 Engines and Specs
Under the bonnet of the 2020 Lexus GS 350 buyers can find four different drivetrains. The least energy is coming from a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit. The GS can get 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. It sends power to rear wheels. With the standard setup, this engine returns more than 30 mpg on highways. However, in urban areas, fuel consumption jumps to 22 mpg.
A 3.5-liter V6 is the best combination of power and fuel economy. You can count on 310 hp and 280 lb-ft of a twist if you pick V6 engine. Standard configuration includes an eight-speed auto gearbox and a rear-wheel drive. Here, buyers can purchase the GS 350 with all-wheel drive. Together with it comes a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is worse than with a four-cylinder engine.
The final option is a 5.0-liter V8 engine. The most powerful and the least fuel-friendly option is delivering 470 horsepower. Still, combined consumption of 20 mpg is not so bad. Well, it is still better than some other premium rivals with huge displacements. The 2020 Lexus GS 350 sends power through an 8-speed transmission to rear wheels only. The driver can use manual controls with this model.
The 2020 Lexus GS 350 will borrow the hybrid drivetrain from its close sibling. The RX 450h is a mid-size three-row SUV that gets power from an electrified version of V6 engine the executive car is using. So, a 3.5-liter unit is the heart of the system. For the SUV it delivers 310 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. However, the basic setup creates 15 horsepower less than the same mill for GS 350. Also, the outputs of the petrol engine are downtuned for a hybrid variant. We will see what will engineers prepare for the executive car, but expect a boost of both fuel economy and power.
2020 Lexus GS 350 Redesign
The next season will bring some significant changes. We can hear that the luxury car will keep the spindle grille, but designers will change the rest of the front fascia. There are no spy photos or teaser images to unveil hints to fans how this car could look like. But, it will be more elegant than before with a new set of wheels on the side, and taillights on the back. Also, the rear end could be taller to improve aerodynamics and overall fuel economy. More materials which will reduce the overall weight will be in the body. Since the car is heading to the new generation, Lexus will prepare even more surprises.
Of course, plenty of space, a lot of premium equipment, and the latest tech features are guaranteed for the 2020 Lexus GS 350. It is already one of the best in the class if we take safety. The finest leather is making the car so expensive. On the other hand, other companies will find hard to match that level of elegance. Power seats, a lot of light, large touchscreen display, and Enform system are highlights of the next Lexus GS executive car.
2020 Lexus GS F Sport
Top of the class models is getting the F treatment. Besides the V8 engine, the car will also get numerous other interior and exterior upgrades. First of all, there is a new grille. The car is closer to the ground. Inside, designers are installing unique gauge clusters as a part of a race cockpit style. The large 12-inch screen is at the center of the dashboard, and from there driver can control a 17-speaker audio system. The GS F is not the same vehicle as to the F Sport model, which is not using high-end materials and a V8 engine.
2020 Lexus GS 350 Release Date
