Judging by the latest reports, it looks like the iconic truck could come with a nice amount of changes next year, as 2020 Toyota Hilux. Although recently facelifted, the current generation of the legendary truck could come with several interesting novelties for the next year. One of the potential novelties is a new, luxury trim level. Also, expect to see some new tech features on the inside as well. Some reports even suggest a hybrid version.

Other than that, the 2020 Toyota Hilux should continue in the same way, featuring familiar layout, on we’ve got used many years ago. The new model should arrive late in the next year.

2020 Toyota Hilux Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Toyota Hilux definitely shouldn’t feature too many changes. This pickup comes in a classic layout and it is still quite fresh in all aspects. The current generation is present for about three years, so there is definitely no need for mechanical updates. Things are even fresher in the aesthetical aspect. Only two years after the redesign, this model received a facelift. We saw a completely new front end, which takes a lot of inspiration from the North American sibling, Toyota Tacoma. There is a pair of new headlights, new grille shape, and several other changes. Considering all these updates, there is no doubt that the 2020 Toyota Hilux will come with the same styling, featuring a familiar body, which comes in both single and double cab layout. Biggest novelty for the next year should be a couple of new color choices.

Followed by the excellent reputation, this truck has always been considered as an ultimate working and off-road vehicle. Therefore, its interior has been overlooked for so many times. It is actually pretty great. Of course, you will find a lot of hard plastics, but these areas actually feature very high long-lasting quality. The next year definitely won’t bring too many changes in this aspect, though new color schemes sound quite likely. Also, we expect to see the latest version of the company’s famous Safety Sense suite, with systems like automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring etc.

These days, things are going in a very interesting direction when it comes to the truck market. You probably knew that premium brands are in the game as well. Therefore, the famous model would probably want to defend its reputation of the ultimate mid-size truck and offer a luxurious version. According to the latest reports, this won’t be just another versions with a longer list of standard equipment. This model would come with a completely upgraded cabin, with soft-touch materials and latest tech features. A new engine also seems quite possible. It could be one of the company’s more advanced and efficient V6 engines, with plenty of power and more refined working characteristics.

2020 Toyota Hilux Engine

other than a potentially new engine for the luxury version, the powertrain lineup will remain the same. This truck rides on the road around the world. So, a wide palette of units is not a strange thing at all. Depending on the market, Toyota offers different types of engines, adapted to the habits of local drivers. For example, European drivers can enjoy a modern and refined 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, which is good for about 180 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. Some other parts of the world require something with ultimate reliability, so an older-generation 3.0-liter diesel looks like a perfect choice.
