After seeing recent updates, it looks like the aging SUV is about to continue without a major redesign for some time more, probably even for the 2020 Toyota Sequoia model. The famous SUV has been around for 18 years. The original model came in 2000 but the problem is the current second-generation model, which is on the market for more than a decade and it will be for some time more. It looks like we are not going to see a redesign in next few years, which indicates that 2020 Sequoia is about to come without bigger changes.
The recent 2018-update has brought several changes in terms of styling, which means that the redesign isn’t Toyota’s priority at the moment. Still, this state won’t last forever, so the aging model will have to be replaced at some point, or even discontinued according to some reports.
2020 Toyota Sequoia redesign
So, what to expect from the 2020 Toyota Sequoia? Considering recent updates, we are pretty sure that there will be no changes. It could easily be the last year model of the current generation, so only some tweaks in terms of standard equipment are possible.
On the other side, base design characteristics will remain unchanged. A few months ago, we have seen updates that brought some interesting novelties in terms of styling. There is a new grille design, as well as a new front bumper. Rest of the SUV remains pretty much the same.
On the inside, everything looks familiar. Despite the age, the dashboard looks very stylish. You can notice a lot of buttons on the center console, as well as touchscreen at the center. On the other side, the instrument cluster hasn’t changed for all these years and definitely looks a little bit outdated.
2020 Toyota Sequoia trim levels
The 2020 Toyota Sequoia should continue in the same way, with four trim levels in the offer. The base model is called SR5. It is a pretty basic version. Some of the notable features are 18-inch wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, a rearview camera, Bluetooth, a USB port, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, 8-speaker audio system etc. There is also a bunch of safety systems. Things like forwarding collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and traffic-adapting cruise control are all standard features.
The next one is TRD Sport, which comes with bigger wheels and sport-tuned suspension, as well as with some additional pieces of equipment.
The Limited trim adds power-folding and auto-dimming exterior mirrors, 14-speaker audio, rear seat entertainment etc,
Finally, there is a Platinum trim, which includes all above but also adds things like an adaptive air suspension, ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, a second-row center console, and a power-adjustable steering wheel.
2020 Toyota Sequoia engines
All versions of this capable SUV come with the same engine. It is a familiar 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engine, which delivers 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. Such amount of power provides not just amazing off-road capabilities, but solid acceleration as well. This huge SUV needs around 7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. On the other side, fuel economy isn’t impressive at all and it is definitely the weakest point of this SUV. It goes around 15 mpg in a combined drive.
2020 Toyota Sequoia release date and price
The 2020 Toyota Sequoia is about to come sometime in late 2019. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so base models should go around 48.000 dollars. Competition is pretty tough. There are models like Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, GMC Yukon etc.
