2020 Toyota Sienna Redesign, Hybrid, Release date

The popular minivan is quite aged so it’s no wonder that numerous reports suggest a redesign in near future, maybe even for the 2020 Toyota Sienna. This model has been around for years.

The original version came as a 1998-year model. For these two decades of production, we have seen three generations of it. The current-generation model is present since 2010, though we have seen few updates so far. One of the recent updates was two years ago when this minivan received a revised engine and new transmission.

For the potential redesign, changes will be far more intense. This should be a complete overhaul that will involve Toyota’s new platform, completely new styling and much more. Considering that the current generation still marks quite good sales results, we presume that Toyota’s engineers aren’t in such big hurry and that the new 2020 Sienna will probably come late in the next year.

2020 Toyota Sienna Redesign

Considering the model’s age, this redesign should bring a lot of changes. Of course, new styling would be the most notable thing about the new model. Still, things under the skin seem far more important in this case. The current generation rides on an outdated K Platform and that is probably the biggest issue at the moment.

Most likely, the 2020 Toyota Sienna will utilize the company’s new TNGA architecture. This platform already underprints some of the company’s new engines and improvements are significant, especially in terms of driving dynamics.

On the other side, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in dimensions. The new model will keep with similar proportions, though in a completely new suit. Also, the new platform should be more space-efficient on the inside, which would mean some additional space for both passengers and cargo.

2020 Toyota Sienna Styling

This is the most notable aspect of every redesign and 2020 Toyota Sienna won’t be an exception. The current generation received two facelifts so far. The second one just recently and has brought the new front end, which fits Toyota’s new design language almost entirely. This would be a clear indicator that the new generation won’t feature some radical changes. Considering the new front end, we expect subtle changes only in this are.

On the other side, the rest of the minivan should get a dose of reshaping. Expect to see a little bit sharper lines and slightly sleeker profile, which will improve aerodynamics and make the new model more attractive.

2020 Toyota Sienna Interior Design

Interior changes will be numerous as well. Though it seems too early to talk about some more specific details, we are pretty sure that 2020 Toyota Sienna will get a completely new cabin, with the new dashboard layout, new materials and plenty of new equipment, including some advanced tech systems.

2020 Toyota Sienna Engine

We saw revisions under the hood of this minivan a year ago, which seems like a clear indicator that the 2020 Toyota Sienna will probably continue with a familiar powertrain. It is a well-known 3.5-liter V6 engine, which has been revised recently and now delivers 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. A new 8-speed automatic transmission has been introduced recently as well. So, the whole package should continue in the same way after this redesign.

Another big possibility is to finally see a hybrid version. Most likely, the new 2020 Toyota Sienna Hybrid will use a familiar system from Camry, which is good for about 208 horsepower and offers superior fuel economy.
