The Toyota is a Japanese carmaker that is known for making some of the most reliable vehicles, one of them is Toyota ViRA Concept. It seems Toyota is keen to attract the young urban buyers, a section where it is yet to gain traction. That is why the carmaker unveiled this model last year. Shown at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Show, it proved to be a head turner.
Toyota ViRA Concept – Design
It is quite clear that the styling of Toyota Vira Concept is inspired by two of its popular models- namely RAV4 and Yaris. The design is bold and it is nothing like what you get in most Toyota vehicles. The three-door configuration is unusual and you can’t help admire the wagon-like roofline. The overall look is sporty and somewhat space age like. Its front end looks aggressive and looks captivating and same can be said about the tailgate. The car, however, is small and it is actually smaller than the company’s C-HR model. It is made by Toyota Industries Corporation which is Toyota Motor Corporation’s subsidiary.
The cabin is not much spacious owing to the small footprint of the vehicle and it is not known what features will be used in it eventually. However, Toyota may use some amenities to make it appealing to urban buyers.
It is likely that Toyota will equip the Vira Concept with top safety features when it goes into production and also load it with enough amenities. The enhanced Toyota Entune infotainment setup is likely to be present and it will have inbuilt support for navigation and Bluetooth. Climate control and ambient lighting may also be present there. The Toyota is likely to pack in its famous ‘safety sense’ set of technologies in this car. Besides, airbags and anti-theft features may be included.
Toyota ViRA Concept – Engine Performance
The Toyota ViRA Concept, if it goes to production, may be laden with a 1.8-litre petrol engine and it will be mated with an electric motor. The output of this hybrid powertrain is not known. However, it will be optimized for good fuel economy.
Availability Date and Cost
Not much is known about the expected release date of the Toyota Vira Concept. The company may keep it only as a concept car, after all. So, its price remains unknown too.
Summing it up
The Toyota Vira concept is an enticing vehicle but a lot of things are unknown about it and the company is in no mood to divulge the details. The design is unlike any other car from its stable though influences of RAV4 and Yaris are there. The hybrid powertrain is likely to be used and nothing is known about the expected time of release. If it makes to the production line, some changes in design and powertrain may take place.
